Where we come from

SIMUTENCE is a spin-off company of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and was founded by three doctoral students from the Institute of Vehicle System Technology (FAST) at the department Lightweight Technology.

DOMINIK_DOERR-SIMUTENCE

Dominik Dörr, M.Sc.

Dominik studied mechanical engineering at KIT and started as scientific researcher and doctoral student at KIT-FAST in 2014. He has specialized in the development of simulation methods for thermoforming of thermoplastic UD-tapes. Between March 2016 and January 2019, he has been leading the working group for continuous fibers.

BENEDIKT_FENGLER-SIMUTENCE

Dr.-Ing. Benedikt Fengler

Benedikt studied mechanical engineering at the University of Applied Science Mannheim (HS Mannheim) and started as scientific researcher and doctoral student at KIT-FAST in September 2013. He received his doctoral degree in December 2018. His doctoral studies focused on the design optimization of local reinforcement tapes. Between January 2015 and September 2018, he has been leading the working group for discontinuous fibers.

MARTIN_HOHBERG-SIMUTENCE

Dr.-Ing. Martin Hohberg

Martin studied mechanical engineering at KIT and started as scientific researcher and doctoral student at KIT-FAST in May 2013. He received his doctoral degree in December 2018. His doctoral studies focused on the process characterization and simulation of the Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) process with local reinforcements.

The founders have been working together for several years in the public funded projects, like SMiLE and an International Research Training Group. This provides SIMUTENCE the support by strong partners in the area of process technology by Fraunhofer ICT and the University of Western Ontario (UWO) as well as for material characterization by the Institute of Applied Materials. In combination with the further development of simulation methods together with KIT-FAST, we are providing holistic approaches for lightweight solutions based on our strong R&D network.
